2016-12 – Searching for a JP after 4.30pm
Have you ever tried searching for a JP after 4.30pm in Brisbane city? Well it is definitely difficult. The Magistrates Court closes at 4.30pm. You might even decide to try your luck at the Department of Attorney-General and Justice who regulates JPs and presumably has a number of qualified JPs in the building. However, your try will be in vain. You are directed to the Magistrates Court. You then start your journey down Queen Street. If you do not have a law firm in the city, you might try your bank. You then start another lottery, as most banks are closed or if they are open, service is not forthcoming. There is no guarantee the bank’s JP is still in the office. The library is another potential JP location but service is confined to one day a week, at least for the Brisbane City Council library. If you are really stuck, you would be recommended to try the Government Register – Search for your nearest JP or Cdec.
